How to Start Over At 45 and Redesign Your Life

How to Start Over At 45 and Redesign Your Life

Starting over at the age of 45 sounds scary and it’s bound to be. All those years of life counted for nothing! How can you be sure the remaining years of your life are spent worthwhile?  If you have lost a job or the love of your life left you, it’s not wise to lay on your couch and watch TV on your Charter Spectrum cable all day – you can do that on weekends! Get up and make changes in your life! While it’s daunting, no doubt, but it’s never too late to start over (with nothing). Creating success in life is always possible, provided that you are willing to give it you’re all.

“Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.”

Let’s make this quote our inspiration and learn how to take control of your life…

Change Your Perspective

The very first thing you need is a fresh perspective. There are always some limitations that are preventing us from doing something. These limitations keep us in a constrained loop. As a result, we keep facing the same problems and repeating the same actions.

If you want to improve, you must break free from these limitations. For this, you must change your respective. Once you are able to control how you look at this, you are ready to start over, my friend!

Identify the Challenges

Identify the problems you are likely to face when you try to discover how to start over and reboot your life. What’s holding you back from making a career change? Is it a lack of education, a difficult employment market, or a lack of motivation?

What problems do you expect in the near future if you’ve recently ended a long-term relationship? You may need to find a new place to live, reconnect with old pals, or retrain yourself to be alone. Whatever the challenges are, make a list of them with at least three alternative remedies. Once you realize that each problem has a solution, you’ll find it easier to accept change.

Evaluate Your Financial Situation

Some of you might be starting over with nothing in your pocket and that’s ok. Here is what you must do. Keep track of your finances. Is the direction it’s taking you in line with your values and life goals? Maybe you’ll need more money to achieve some of your goals. Perhaps the biggest hole you need to close is a financial one.

You’ll need to make some decisions about your spending. Get rid of all the unnecessary purchases and focus on the necessary ones. If you are cash strapped, maybe consider moving to a cheaper living situation. Maybe start another part-time job to fill the financial gaps?

Find a New Hobby

Want to get the most out of your forties? Instead of wasting time watching TV, acquire a hobby. This won’t just boost your self-esteem and widen your social circle, but will also help you stay mentally fit in the long run.

To take charge of your life, you have got to stay mentally strong.

Develop a Fitness Routine for Yourself

Just because you’ve spent more time on the couch than in the gym in the past doesn’t mean you can’t change your ways in your forties. Find a workout routine you would enjoy, whether it’s Zumba, cycling, or yoga.

It’s possible that doing so will save your life! If you fail to stay committed, find an exercise buddy who will motivate you daily.

Cook Meals at Home

Cooking is a great distraction and if you have some free time on your hands, it makes for a nice hobby too. And if you don’t know how to cook, this is your chance to learn. This activity will keep you occupied and you would be consuming fewer calories.

Work on Building Your Confidence

Starting over at the age of 45 could shake up your confidence and this low confidence could be your biggest enemy. In fact, it’s the last thing you need right now.

Why squander is your life feeling horrible about what you see in the mirror when you only have one? The Forties is that magical age bracket when you’re wise enough to take care of yourself and your body.

Don’t let the negative feelings keep you from doing what’s best. To boost up your confidence, repeat positive affirmations. Read a book or watch a TED talk on confidence.

Final Words

If it helps, you are not alone. There are many people out there who have had their midlife crisis in their 40s. With these tips, you will be able to start over and succeed. You have got this!
